Unveiling of the Plaque in recognition of Dudley Jacobs

I thought i would add a few photos for those far away who would have liked to be there on Wednesday when Dudley was honoured by his fellow pilots, the Gladstone Port Authority, fellow sailors and friends.

A step back in time .......................................
                                                               

                                   Dudley was pretty comfortable on the helm,

                                                                                        
                                                        

         .......and so this week, we gathered to talk about Dudley ... and spend a bit of time to honour the   man he was.............

Fairway Buoy Race March 10th

It was a lovely blue sky , and outgoing tide and a pleasant 10 to 15 knots from a different direction to the instructions on the board back at the club apparently!

                                 ....the day started as always with the crew doing the work and the skippers discussing 'the course' ..  or supervising    ...........          What else ?


                            Actually Jeff looks like he is not sure what they are all stuffing around with.......

                         it's always about the ropes ........ isn't it ?  Personally i'd just worry about the colour...

                                      

                                                                                     
     hmm... that rope ... goes this way , then that one goes that way, then the other one just goes away!

Slim was on Immigrant so the best way to help was to stay relaxed..........

                            ........... with the  boys from Intrigue .. who need lunch before anything....

                                                   Solitaire was out early testing the waters

On Immigrant it was "Hang On tight and go together"

                                                 Da Lukje looked swift as she cruised along

                                  but..........     I'd just like to point out a couple of things ............

                                                  .. the wire railing all seems to be at the wrong height ......

A nice clear shot.... very sharp.... and where is the face ? I ask you!!! Boom boys??

                        The start was great -- Not really sure what was happening .. but I have the feeling I was not alone there........

                                  Loco seemed to have the advantage ... ask the umpires on Solitaire .. they had     ringside seats....

                                       .. then Loco started to tack away ...........What THE ?
                                           

                                                  Woh .. They were leaving the field clear for Immigrant

                                                         
                                                 .. and away they went

                                                                         

                                     just pointing out the above shot was taken as No Problem (ha ha) passed them.......

                                     actually .. I should say the Tug was well clear ... the camera likes to lie!    

                                                                         

                                 This was the view from No Problem... until they faded into the distance..

                                                                             We had a visitor 

                                                                                

                               to remind us that Middle Bank was there......Kids.!!!.. as if we'd forget....

                                                        ..   the crew on board had a few moments

                                                  where they wished they'd stayed ashore 

                                   Gordon drove while Ray learnt to be crew again... and sweated it out..

                                                                                     

I never did get a shot of the blue spinnaker under the boat as we diddle-daddled around on the harbour.

                             It just doesn't seem tactful to run for the camera when all hell has broken loose...
