Just another picture perfect day in Gladstone for the CQ Series
The crowd was small but enthusiastic, it was Immigrants last series racing amongst the PCSC crews , Arcadia had come for a bit of competition, It was Anthony and Intriigues first big race series, and Doctor's Orders was there to ensure the monos were going to have a run for their money...
Saturday afternoon presented with light breezes and blue skies..
We still manged to make many hulls look a crowd on the pontoon..
As I headed out as a guest on Arcadia.....
Tim and Mark were setting the sails ..
Garth was another PCSC recruit..
Skipper Josh was thinking seriously..
Tim was flying with Qantaslink..
the entire multi hull division was out practising the start...
there were dinghy sailors on yachts instead of yacht sailors pinching dinghies..
Immigrant got away to a good start..
.. with a couple of happy juniors aboard
the Doc was in the mix..
Intriigue was no slouch...
I was getting used to being back on an angle ..
as we little by little narrowed the gap...
as we sailed that so familiar route...
Josh and Tim in control centre ..
there is a great freedom to being a guest.. and not having a single worry ...
as we get more familiar with the odd wharf or two ..
but this crew under it all under command ..
looked behind us at the view...
which was rather pretty........ really....
the Doctor got a big lift...
gave Josh a few moments worry ...
colourful kites ........
Arcadia was flying the flag .. for CCYC
and the results were pretty good for Arcadia too....
Day Two and the weather had changed overnight and the morning skies were glary and grey, with the promise of rain...
I was soooooooo Happy to be standing on Patsy LeePlace waving the camera and waving goodbye!
...there was the usual Big Breakfast and pontoon crowd scenes...
Tim and the crew were anxious to head homewards...
as the yachts headed out to the start line
.. there was a little bit of posturing going on out there...
as yachts lined up...
the volunteer workers were also lining up...
Arcadia was across the line first , followed closely by Immigrant ,,,
.........and that was the last we saw of them all....
however Anthony took a few shots from Intriigue as they sailed up the coast
into a stunning sunset..
a perfect ending as Intriigue crossed the line first...
