Sailing at the Port Curtis Sailing Club, Gladstone, Queensland: The Championship race that wasn't.............

The day started as many do lately.......with boats being towed to the start because there's NO WIND

.. or no motor ...................

                             We misssed the start ... but in the end that didn't matter ......because there was

                                                                           NO RACE...but that's a long story...

Barry sent them off....in happy expectation

wuth Capable Cary helping ...

we managed to get shots of you all setting off....

Loco had a a few heads on board ..........

it was going to be a great race .............

Immigrant had the psychological advantage ......
matching shirts....

but David and the crew were looking on high for another type of help

and the future was looking good ...............

they had practised to show they could...

NAP was having a Youth training day...

.. but the youth just never figured out ..who was the trainer?

Tuan had a Two G&T sail this week....

but we have it on good authority they were flat out all afternoon.......

                                ..........they really,......... really were busy.......

                                           Back where REAL boats race.....

                                        the crowds were enthralled, the action was fast and furious...

there was colour and excitement ....................

... but there was still NO WIND

so Guy paddled around looking for it....

Steve lay around waiting for it,

Boti and Jack didn't know they had to look..........

but then they cottoned on.................

the fleet drifted down ......

Martin and Shauna tried a few angles .....

Rowen kept at it ...

Scott had a smile ... must have been calculating HIS handicap...

.. and everyone kept having fun....

and looking on high...... for something...

Colleen and Sue had it all together

but you can aways rely on Ray to attract the eye of the photographer...

living on the edge, ....skipper , foredeck and sheets ...but where's the autopilot?

and back for more of the same ..................

but finally the wind came in a little and suddenly everyone was off and flying

Steve had to sit up.............

a bit of wind makes such a difference ... wouldn't you say ?

and a turtle came along side for a quick "hello"

                                                        There was a great debate....

                                   time ran out... the start boat packed up .. reluctantly it has to be said...

                                                    but we felt you deserved a reception ...........
